On October 25th, the ICS community came together to celebrate UN Day in a dynamic display of culture, creativity, and connection. The day kicked off with an energetic parade featuring lower-grade students, who proudly exhibited colourful flags and traditional outfits from around the world. It was a beautiful reminder of the diversity that enriches our planet.
Another standout moment was a fabulous fashion show that took place at the basketball field. Students stepped onto the stage wearing outfits that represented a variety of countries, each one reflecting a unique cultural story. At the end of the show, the anticipation built as the winners were announced. The top designs revealed who wore it best, but it was clear that everyone had done an amazing job. Each student brought their own flair and creativity to the runway; the fashion show was a true celebration of talent and cultural expression from our ICS students.
Food lovers were in for a treat at the cooking exhibition, where parents shared delicious dishes from various countries. Attendees had the opportunity to sample an assortment of flavours from across the globe. It was a special chance to explore different culinary traditions and connect over the joy of food while celebrating the richness of our diverse backgrounds.
For our older students, the Model United Nations (MUN) offered a fantastic platform to engage in meaningful discussions about global issues that matter. They stepped into the roles of country representatives, passionately debating topics ranging from climate change to human rights. Students were able to display their critical thinking and public speaking skills by presenting their arguments and negotiating creative solutions.
To add to the excitement, the MUN session was enhanced by entertaining performances, including dance and music, which provided a wonderful break between debates. It was a truly engaging experience that gave a sense of collaboration and understanding. Without a doubt, everyone left the school that day feeling inspired by the potential for positive change.
Overall, UN Day 2024 was a wonderful success by bringing us together around our shared values of peace and understanding. The energy from the day really showed how much we can accomplish as a community!
