ICS upperclassmen conducted the flag-raising ceremony for Indonesia's 79th Independence Day.
On Saturday, 17 August 2024, our school community came together to celebrate the 79th Indonesian Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The celebration started early with our upperclassmen participating in a ceremonial flag-raising at 7:40 AM. Our students proudly took part in this important tradition which commemorates the significance of Indonesia’s independence.
After the ceremony, the festivities continued with a series of exciting games. The first challenge was a trivia quiz, where participants tested their knowledge about Indonesia’s history and culture. Following this was a much-anticipated kerupuk (cracker) eating contest, which brought lots of laughter and friendly competition as participants raced to receive first place.
Other memorable games included finishing the lyrics to Indonesian songs, trying not to pop the balloon challenge, arranging coloured bottles behind a box, and more. The winners of the games were announced on Monday, and various prizes were awarded to them. We congratulate all the participants for their great sportsmanship.
Our kindergarteners had their own Independence Day celebration on Friday, 16 August, which featured a fun costume contest. Eight winners, one from each class, were awarded a special certificate for their creative and patriotic outfits. The rest of the day was filled with a variety of engaging activities that became an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Both days successfully showcased Indonesia’s national identity as well as the unity of our school community. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made the celebration special!
The founder of the school delivered an inspiring speech to the students and staff of ICS to mark the beginning of the event.
