Marsia Lubna Sambudi, a Grade 8 student, displayed her talent and dedication in the recent Olimpiade Olahraga Siswa Nasional (O2SN) held on the 22nd and 23rd of August of 2024 in Jakarta. Proudly representing the province of Riau, she participated in the 50-metre butterfly and freestyle for women’s swimming.
The O2SN is a prestigious national sports event held annually in Indonesia. It provides a platform for students across the country to demonstrate their athletic talents in various sports, including swimming, and is known for its high level of competition and the opportunity it offers young athletes to excel on a national stage.
On the first day, 22nd August, Acha took to the pool for the 50-metre butterfly style. She entered the race with a seed time of 33.34 seconds, with her coaches and peers holding high expectations for her performance. The following day, 23rd August, she competed in the 50-metre freestyle, widely regarded as one of the most challenging and fast-paced races in swimming. Previously for this race, she achieved an impressive seed time of 30.36 seconds. The race’s rapid pace and competitive nature showed her ability to perform under pressure.
Each day, all the athletes began their preparations at 12:30 pm to ensure that they were both mentally and physically ready for the challenges ahead. The events themselves took place from 2 pm to 5 pm, during which Acha’s skills and determination were evident.
Marsia’s participation in the O2SN not only highlights her individual achievements but also reflects the spirit of excellence and sportsmanship that our school strives to promote. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to celebrating her future successes in the swimming arena.
